The Samadhi Soul Story

Samadhi Soul has been open since early 2012 and is owned and operated by therapists Luke Murray and Sarah Goldfinch. With over 20 years shared experience, this dedicated and qualified team pride themselves in placing customers’ needs first, and customising treatments to suit the individual.

Luke realised a more wholistic approach to remedial bodywork provides customers with the greatest results. Having a previous history of severe bodily pain and great success in tackling a number of health issues, Luke’s own experiences have created the drive to seek out solutions and to gain a greater understanding of physiology and the complexities of the human body. Combining personal experiences, observational studies of clients over many years and continual learning and refinement, this duo have cultivated a unique, focused form of remedial bodywork.

This small local business is unique to Port Douglas; a focused massage and bodywork studio. Primarily offering remedial therapies and massage techniques to treat the source of pain and bodily issues. Our aim is for you to walk away feeling relaxed and restored.

We include energy work in our treatments to further enhance the experience and to assist in rebalancing emotional and spiritual discord, a common complaint in our current way of life.

We are both trained in many specialty fields and can offer various complimentary modalities and unique treatments, if you are keen to try something new.

Our Ethos

At Samadhi Soul we pride ourselves on clean, organic, natural practices that nurture our bodies and are environmentally sound.

Many of our customers are chemically sensitive, or prone to allergies, so we found it important to reduce the emission of Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs), commonly found in building materials and paints, such as formaldehyde and benzene. Our walls have been painted with plant based bio pigments and floorcoverings made from sustainably farmed seagrass and pure wool, so you can breathe easy during your visit. You’ll find unique handcrafted furniture from locally sourced timbers, leather chairs, and filtered rainwater from the purest place on earth.

In our bathroom, our handtowels are made from sugarcane waste pulp, toilet paper from recycled office waste and we only use certified organic cleaning products to reduce our contribution to landfill and that which washes out into our reef.

In our rooms you will find certified organic massage oils, which are wonderful for the skin,
natural fibres, mercury-free lighting and pure beeswax candles.

Testimonials

I came to Luke after experiencing lower back pain. During the consultation I mentioned that I also had pain in my right shoulder, which I was unable to sleep on. The main issue was the lower back, as I had had the shoulder pain for around 20 years and I did not expect Luke to solve it. I was very pleased to find that Luke’s treatment not only relieved the lower back pain but also resolved the shoulder pain. No more sleepless nights. I now recommend him to my customers, family and friends.

A massage with Luke is an amazing experience which allows you to completely unwind and relax. With strong, slow hands he thoroughly works on each section of the body, paying special attention to any problem areas. It is one of the only indulgences I know of that is actually good for you, and leaves you feeling refreshed and rejuvenated.
I highly recommend a massage with Luke to everyone and in fact many of my family and friends now visit him regularly!

– Jenna, Marine Biologist, Port Douglas QLD

Wow, amazing, best ever! Highly highly recommended! We visit Port Douglas twice a year and Luke is always our first stop. Luke not only gives one of the best massages I have ever had, he is also one of the most down to earth guys you will meet. My husband is also a client. We both travel a lot and regard Luke as one of the best.

– Vic & Rowan, Wagga Wagga NSW

I’m so glad to have found Luke at Samadhi Soul. I was starting to lose hope that my back would never be the same after being told by other physicians
that I’d have to learn to “put up with it”. Luke is so passionate and professional and you can tell that he really cares and wants to help people.
Whether you have a problem which needs to be addressed or you are just looking for a relaxing massage, you can’t go past Samadhi Soul.

– Courtney, Port Douglas QLD

Luke is always punctual, empathetic and has an uncanny knack for finding your sore spots. I never want to get up and go home as the pain relief and relaxation is complete.

– Jenny, Resort Manager, Brisbane & PD QLD

I’d just like to say Thank you Luke so very much for treating our 5 year old with Bowen Therapy. It has helped him be the boss of his bladder and get through the night time without wetting himself. I’m over the moon to say the least and our big boy is thrilled that he now has dry pyjamas every morning. I will certainly recommend you.

After experiencing Vertigo for over 20 years, having had numerous scans, medications and specialist appointments, I was truly amazed that Sarah could help me. Just 2 days after a Craniosacral treatment, I felt like a new person! What a memorable holiday!

– Trish, Melbourne VIC

I work in a stressful job and came to Port Douglas for a holiday to ‘de-stress’. My neck was stiff and I had constant pain in my back. I was recommended Samadhi Soul. One treatment with Sarah and I can move my neck freely, I’m pain free and feel energy flowing through my whole body like everything is back in order! I wish I’d come here sooner!

– Sophie, Brisbane QLD

One of the best massages I have ever had, Sarah was awesome in finding all my troubled areas and I felt great afterwards. I fell asleep on numerous occasions and couldn’t have been more relaxed. Great service provided and I highly recommend their business

– Andrew 2017

Sarah has been so wonderful in helping me deal with pain associated with TMJ and neck issues. She has an indepth understanding of the body and the relationship between diet and pain. She is very intuitive and always ‘finds’ the right places to work on. I highly recommend her cranial treatment, remedial work, lymphatic drainage and relaxation massages. She is more than a massage therapist – she is a healer.

Sarah is amazing. This has been one of the best massages/treatments I have received. I don’t say that lightly.
I walked out from my treatment with a monumental change in my body, mind and soul.
Cannot highly recommend her enough.

Sarah thank you for your wonderful professional treatment. I really appreciate your skills. Although initially I arranged to see you for my “lower back pain” you were able to professionally diagnose the issues around the sacral area that were causing me grief.
The bonus for me was the lymphatic drainage you performed. I hadn’t realized I needed it – but I did!
Thank you and take care.

Our Region

Port Douglas has many wonders to behold and experience. Here are some of our recommendations to visitors, for enjoying your stay while in our beautiful part of the world.

1. Have a Massage on your first day:
Unwind, and iron out any tensions from work and life back home, so you can make the most of your holiday. Then if you like it, you’ll have time to book another one before you leave!

2. Walk on the Beach:
Four Mile Beach and a number of beaches close by, offer a spectacular sunrise and a perfect romantic spot for an evening picnic, stroll, bike ride or swim. Kitesurfing, paddle-boarding or nearby hang-gliding for the more adventurous.

3. Visit the Great Barrier Reef:
If a big boat with oodles of people doesn’t appeal, there are many smaller,  intimate and family operated boats, departing Port Douglas, visiting Low Isles and the Outer Reef each day. Snorkelling, diving, photos and unforgettable memories. Ask locals for recommendations.

4. Daintree Drive:
Take a tour, or hire a car and drive yourselves, either way, be sure to stop often to enjoy incredible beaches, heritage rainforest walks, swimming holes, lunch and snack spots, museums, photo opportunities (you might snap a cassowary
or turtles, if you’re lucky!) and of course
Cape Tribulation.

5. Mangrove Croc spotting:
Whether you hire an early morning dingy at the Marina, take a sail at sunset, or join an outrigging crew, be sure to visit our unique backyard.

6. See things from Up High:
Does a helicopter tour over the reef, rainforest, coastline or outback appeal?
A number of locally operated heli tours allow for a totally different perspective, with day tours including lunch and private island stop overs just the beginning.

7. Explore the Tablelands:
If you have a couple of days up your sleeve, be sure to take a trike tour up to Julatten, or if you have a hire car, further into the Atherton Tablelands, where you’ll find romantic farmlands, old dairy country and historic townships. A beautiful way to round out your tropical northern experience.

8. Local Markets:
Port Douglas has its signature Cotters Market each Sunday, rain or shine, and is brimming with local, handmade, beautiful and unique personal indulgences or gift ideas.
Mossman Markets on Saturday mornings offers a bounty of fresh, local produce, drinking coconuts, tropical flowers and fruits. A great way to try some new flavours.

9. Wait, there’s More:
Fancy an outdoor cinema experience, live local music, a session at the local gym, or an historical walking tour? We can recommend a number of friendly and fun local businesses to help enhance your stay in Port Douglas.
